LA as Subject membership is open to any public or private institution, organization, or individual committed to identifying, preserving, and disseminating the primary records of the cultural, economic, ethnic, political, and social history of the Los Angeles region.
Types of members:
Archive Members: Institutions, organizations, and individuals owning, holding, or administering primary resources related to Los Angeles history that make their collections accessible for research. Archive Members are entered in the LA as Subject Directory Portal. Click here to read the Directory Portal Purpose Statement.
Research Members: Institutions, organizations, and individuals not owning, holding, or administering such primary resources but support and promote the mission of LA as Subject.
Student Members: K-12, undergraduate, or graduate students, especially those interested in the subject of history, librarianship, or archival management.
Members may vote on proposals, list their collections in the online directory of archives, receive news through the LA as Subject listserv, promote their home institution’s upcoming events, attend regular meetings, and take advantage of the many opportunities to network within the region’s archival community.
