The Countdown to the 2020 Los Angeles Archives Bazaar Has Begun!

The Countdown to the 2020 Los Angeles Archives Bazaar Has Begun!

The 15th Annual Los Angeles Archives Bazaar will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2020!

This year will be a whole new adventure as the Archives Bazaar will be entirely virtual. Although the environment will be different, we still want to encapsulate the spirit of showcasing L.A. archives “All Day. All in one Place” through engaging programs, online exhibits, and virtual tours. To assist us with our planning, please take this brief survey here.

The Virtual Archives Bazaar will include an online History Keepers exhibit featuring member collections. The theme of the exhibit will be based on the ideas of “home” and, like History Keepers exhibit themes of the past, is open to broad interpretation. Some topics related to theme can include, but not be limited to:

  • Los Angeles architecture and landscapes
  • Migration to Los Angeles in pursuit of health and happiness
  • L.A. City as being home to the open internet, film industry, freeways, or other “L.A. firsts”
  • The ethnic enclaves of L.A.

A Virtual Talk Shop in early August (date TBD), will go over how members can participate in the exhibit.

Speaking of Virtual Talk Shops: we will be starting our Archives Bazaar related programming on Thursday, July 23 at 2pm with a presentation on Basement Tapes by founders Yuri Shimoda and Miles Levy. To attend, please RSVP here!

We look forward to sharing and celebrating our rich Los Angeles heritage in new and exciting ways with all of you!
