Aerospace Legacy Foundation

The Aerospace Legacy Foundation is a volunteer 501c3 organization dedicated to preserving the history of the Aerospace Industry of southern California. We maintain archives of documents, graphics, photographs, and artifacts from the industry and especially the original Downey Industrial site. Collections include; Emsco, Vultee, North American Aviation, Rockwell, Boeing, NASA, etc. A number of personal collections have been donated by individuals who worked at the Downey site.

Los Angeles Historic Theatre Foundation

We are an advocacy group founded in 1987, dedicated to protecting, preserving, restoring and sustaining the Historic movie palaces and theaters of Los Angeles. We are recent recipients of an extensive collection of historical documents and photographic material relating to these theaters and their relevance to the social and cultural life of Los Angeles during the last century. We are in the very early stages of figuring out how best to use and share this resource, and hope that by getting involved with LA as Subject we can develop these plans and move forward.

Writers Guild Foundation, Shavelson-Webb Library and Archives

As the only collecting institution focused solely on the art, craft, and history of Hollywood writers and their labor union, the Writers Guild Foundation Library & Archive are vividlly relevant to the creative and business communities of Los Angeles. The holdings document a rich facet of Los Angeles culture in relation to the role of writers in the entertainment industry. The collections include Writers Guild of America historical materials, current and vintage produced and unproduced scripts, letters, periodicals, photographs, production materials, memorabilia, oral histories, and personal items pertaining to film, television, radio and new media writers. The non-profit Writers Guild Foundation strives to promote and preserve the work of writers for the screen, and to inspire and educate writers everywhere. In addition to the Shavelson-Webb Library & Archive, other esteemed programs include High School Workshops, the Military Veterans Writing Project, and a Visiting Writers program.

Los Angeles County Arboretum & Botanic Garden

The Los Angeles County Arboretum & Botanic Garden has a large archive of historic photographs relating to Rancho Santa Anita, Elias J.(Lucky) Baldwin and this history of the Arboretum. It also holds thephotographic archive of William Chrisman Aplin (1912-1993) a photographer who worked for Sunset magazine and photographed extensively the plants and gardens of Southern California.

La Senora Research Institute

Films, Recordings, Book Archives include the works of * Jose Mojica, Mexican opera star;" The Valentino of Latin Films". * Anita Loos and Mary Anita Loos Sale - Films, scripts, Books * Lyle Wheeler - Films * Leo Carillo - Films * Dolores Del Rio - Films The work/study program Interns from UCLA/LMU and Mt. St. Mary's have resulted in an LSRI program to acquire copies of works of the 1930's of George and Ira Gershwin and Cole Porter. These artists were the guest of playwright Anita Loos. La Senora's Chamber Music Series feature music from the classic films of all former Hacienda residents.

Lanterman House

Local history of the La Canada Valley and Flintridge and of the City of La Canada Flintridge (incorporated 1976). History of the Lanterman family, pioneer settlers of the La Canada Valley in the 1870s, who lived in La Canada until the family died out in 1987. History of Frank Lanterman's early career as a theater organist (including thousands of pieces of popular sheet music). History of Frank Lanterman's 28-year service (1950-1978) as a State Assemblyman and his championship of rights for the developmentally disabled. History of the restoration of the Lanterman House in the 1990s.

The Theodore Payne Foundation for Wild Flowers and Native Plants, Inc.

The collection is currently being evaluated to determine content and needs for curation and as such is not yet available to the public. Included are: Personal papers of Theodore Payne dating from 1893 to 1963; Payne's business records dating from 1903 including sales ledgers, catalogues of plants and seeds for sale at his nursery, planting plans, photographs and plant lists; Professional communications with notable clients and seed businesses in US and Europe; Payne's writing focusing on Southern California native plants, their location and care; an extensive study of eucalyptus; commentary about his participation in the establishment of major public and private gardens and published papers on urban development in Southern California. Additional papers relate to the activities of the Theodore Payne Foundation (TPF) since its founding in 1960. A slide collection of wildflower displays in local mountains taken during 1970's and 1980's by Dede Gilman; Botanical art of local native wildflowers by Jane Pinheiro from Antelope Valley; and assorted private papers and collections given to TPF, yet to be evaluated. Memoir written about Life on the Modjeska Ranch in Orange Co. Documents his work collecting seeds and plants in San Diego,Imperial, Riverside, San Bernardino, Orange and LA Cos. Business records focus on downtown Los Angeles

LA84 Foundation - Sports Library

The Sports Library houses one of the world's most comprehensive collections on sports information. The collection highlights include more than 8,000 volumes archiving the Olympic Games; photograph and slide collection of 90,000 images; 5,500 instructional and historical sport videos; current subscriptions to over 500 periodical titles covering all areas of sport. The AAF Sports Library acquired both the National Track and Field Research Collection and The Ralph Miller Golf Library. The library administers a growing digital archive of Olympic Games Official Reports, scholarly sport journals and popular magazines. LA84 Foundation Sports Library's Los Angeles material: -The library's special collection on the Olympic Games includes an extensive archive documenting the 1932 and 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games. Documents include the Official Reports, programs, photographic images and video recordings. -High school sports awards including the Helms Athletic Foundation's Los Angeles City and Southern Section award selections. -Coliseum Relays programs and video footage (1941-1965). -Oral histories of Southern California Olympians. -Programs, photographs and video recordings of other Los Angeles and Southern California sports events, meets and competitions. -Printed materials and videorecordings of the 1994 World Cup and 1999 Women’s World Cup.
