L.A. as Subject Residency Program – Call for Additional Proposals

Body:

Do you have collections that you would like to digitize? Submit a proposal to LA as Subject Residency Program!

The LAAS Residency Program was started earlier this year as a means of strengthening ties between larger and smaller institutions in the LAAS research alliance. The aim is to cultivate self-sustaining communities of practice to continue building digital collections for materials based on L.A. area community histories.

Additional opportunities for participation are now available, and we are once again looking for proposals from members seeking professional instruction and guidance before embarking on a digitization project.

Made possible through a generous grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), Resident Archivists at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH), California State (CSUN), and the University of Southern California (USC) will be working with LAAS archives to assess and/or complete digitization projects at various stages of readiness. The goal of this program is to provide high-quality, intensive, hands-on learning experiences for all project participants while the Residents gain relevant skills related to digital library projects and management.

If you are interested in participating, please visit https://laassubject.org/residency_program for more information and look for the link to the Digital Project Proposal Form, or access the form directly here. Proposals are due November 3, 2019.

The residents can be contacted at laas.archivists@gmail.com with any additional questions about the program or the suitability of your project. They will also be available for questions at the Archives Bazaar at USC on Saturday, October 12.
