Using a variety of primary source materials including books, diaries, journals, photographs, archival materials and ephemeral items, the visitor takes a cursory walk through California's history from the first Californians through European exploration and into the Twentieth Century. Major topics include Native Californians; early European exploration; missions, ranchos and pre-statehood; gold rush; voices from California; agribusiness and water; San Francisco; Los Angeles; promoting California; and the literature of California.
